Sunday Stumper and Silliness (#1) 🪞
🚨 ANNOUNCEMENT! 🚨
We’ve made it to 15 Sunday specials! And it’s been fun! But now it’s time for something new.
So today we’re saying goodbye to Sunday Skills, Stumpers, and Silliness.
But we’ve got a new plan.
Say hello to Sunday Stumper and Silliness.
(We’re actually just saving the skill for another day. Maybe a Wednesday. When there’s not so much football to cover!)
Okay, okay… maybe we didn’t need the sirens.
Anyway, on to…
❓ Stumper: Scoreboard Mystery 🕵️♂️
Yesterday, we predicted college football would give us wow.
And then you predicted three games: Miami to beat USF, Notre Dame to beat Texas A&M, and Georgia to beat Tennessee.
Now here’s your final prediction challenge:
Ready to see what happened?
We’re jumping in midgame, so check the clock and score when the highlights start.
🎥 Did Miami QB Carson Beck put a stop to USF’s magical start?
Beck sure did. He threw for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns on the way to a 49–12 blowout.
🎥 Did Tennessee’s new QB Joey Aguilar end Georgia’s eight-game winning streak against his team?
No, but he came so close. Aguilar had a huge game: 371 yards and 4 touchdowns. But Georgia still won in overtime.
🎥 Did A&M quarterback Marcel Reed recover from his Week 2 injury and pull off the upset?
Yep, that’s an upset! And if you were watching the scoreboard closely, it all came down to a missed extra point. Notre Dame whiffed after their last touchdown. A&M nailed it. Every. Play. Matters.
Final answer on the closest game: A&M’s 41–40 win on Reed’s touchdown pass with 13 seconds left!
Before we leave college football behind:
#1 Ohio State beat Ohio 37–9 (hi, Jake)
#4 Oregon beat Northwestern 34–14 (hi, Kat! Who did you root for?)
#7 Texas beat UTEP 27–10 (that’s University of Texas at El Paso; thanks for asking Kat, but we all know this one was for me)
And in the biggest surprise of the day, Georgia Tech beat #12 Clemson 24–21 on a game-winning field goal
Wow was right!
😂 Silliness: The Perfect Fit 🥪
College football on Saturday ➡️ NFL on Sunday.
Today’s best game?
Definitely the Super Bowl rematch: Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are 0–1 coming off a rough opener in Brazil. And wide receiver Xavier Worthy is injured.
The Eagles crushed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. And experts think they’ll win again today.
Our second favorite matchup? Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans (hi again, Jake!).
The Bucs are 1–0 after a close Week 1 win. In that game, rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka had two touchdown catches.
The Texans had trouble last week protecting quarterback CJ Stroud. But experts think they’ll figure it out and win by a field goal.
We think college football and the NFL go together on the weekend like peanut butter and jelly.
🎥 Want to watch this video to celebrate the perfect fit?
That’s it for today! 🙌
Enjoy watching the NFL and playing whatever you’ve got going.
And if you find a quiet minute… don’t forget the WNBA playoffs tip off today.
We’ll have everything you need to know tomorrow!
