Last week, we told Steph’s story: game-changing shooting that speaks louder than words…Today, we meet a different kind of star: Anthony Edwards.
He’s loud, he’s bold, and he’s charging straight into the spotlight.
And guess what? He’s playing Steph right now. Before we dive into Ant’s story, let’s see what happened last night.
⏪ Scoreboard Snapshot
🏎️ Pacers at ⚔️ Cavaliers
With 47 seconds left in the game, Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell had 48 points. And the Cavs led 119–112. In the last 30 years, teams leading by 7 or more points in the last minute of a game had won 1,640 times… and only lost twice!
Then this happened:
With this stunning comeback, the Pacers now head home with a 2-0 series lead.
🌉 Warriors at 🐺 Timberwolves
The Warriors surged ahead with a dominant second quarter and maintained control throughout the game. Steph Curry left the game with an injury to his left hamstring after scoring 13 points in 13 minutes.
Here’s the injury (watch for when he starts to grab his leg):
We’re sending Steph our best “get well” wishes. The playoffs just aren’t the same without him.
For the Wolves, Anthony Edwards finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds, but made only 9 of his 22 shots.
Last night was a tough loss, but it’s just a small part of Ant’s story. To really know him, we’ve got to rewind a bit.
🐜 Next Up: Anthony Edwards
Anthony Edwards — “Ant” to everyone — is just 23 years old. But when he steps on the court? He plays like he’s been doing it forever.
🏠 Where’s He From?
Ant grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and started playing sports as a little kid.
And not just basketball. He played football, too, and was such a fast, powerful running back that people thought he’d go to the NFL. Can you imagine trying to tackle someone with Ant’s skills? No thanks!
Thankfully for us, Ant chose basketball and became one of the best high school players in the country.
🐶 Bulldogs and Timberwolves
When it was time for college, Ant could’ve gone anywhere. But he chose to stay close to home and play for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Why?
🏠 Home mattered.
🏀 His coach, Tom Crean, had worked with NBA stars like Dwyane Wade.
🧱 And Ant didn’t just want to join a great team — he wanted to build one.
In his 1 season at Georgia, he scored 19 points per game, dropped 37 points in his biggest night, and helped the team win 5 more games than they did the year before.
It was enough to show the world he was ready. So in 2020, the Minnesota Timberwolves picked him #1 overall in the NBA Draft.
🎬 Lights, Camera, Action
Ant defends well, dunks hard, shoots deep, and talks with a confidence that makes even the loudest crowd go quiet. Here’s what it looks like:
He plays like the moment belongs to him… and honestly, it usually does. Some experts even go as far as comparing him to a young version of Michael Jordan… and he’s the greatest basketball player of all time!
So it’s no surprise that before he ever won a playoff series, Ant was already on the big screen, starring in the basketball movie “Hustle” on Netflix. Critics said Ant’s acting was so good, it felt like he’d done it for years!
🎤 If you could play basketball with any movie or TV character, who would it be and why? I’d pick Spider-Man so he could dunk from the ceiling!
Now back to the real-life superheroes… let’s see what’s on the line tonight as some of the NBA’s biggest stars hit the court.
🏀 Today’s Action
🗽 Knicks at ☘️ Celtics
Will the Celtics bounce back from missing a playoff record 45 3-pointers in their Game 1 loss?
Experts say: 59% chance Celtics win
🏔️ Nuggets at ⚡ Thunder
Can the Thunder’s defense, which is the best in the NBA, slow down the Nuggets and even the series?
Experts say: 66% chance Thunder win
Night by night, the playoffs are an incredible story… and we’re here for every page. See you tomorrow, Smallball-ers!
