Sunday Skills, Stumpers, and Silliness (#14) 🐎
We just wrote the ABCs of college football 10 days ago… but it’s time for a quick change.
S is not for Sun Devils anymore. Today, S is for sad.
That’s how I’m feeling after the Longhorns fell 14–7 to the Buckeyes yesterday.
The wild part? Right after we told you the team with more rushing yards usually wins… Texas ran for 166 yards, way more than Ohio State’s 77.
But the game came down to two key plays. Ohio State scored on a 4th-and-1 at the goal line. Then they stopped Texas in the exact same spot.
So yeah… rushing still really matters. And that’s our theme for today’s special edition.
Let’s flip the vibe: S is for Sunday!
🧠 Skills: S Is Also For Saquon 🏃♂️
What makes Saquon Barkley the best running back in the NFL? Sure, he’s strong and fast.
But it’s the hard work he does every day that makes the difference between a short run and a touchdown.
🎥 Hit play and see how Saquon practices!
Now it’s your turn. Grab a football and head to the yard. Or even better: share this with your flag football coach before your next practice!
❓ Stumpers: Rushing Royalty 👑
Only 9 players ever have run for more than 2,000 yards in one NFL season. Saquon is one of them!
Last year, he finished with 2,005. It wasn’t the most ever, but he did win the Super Bowl! 🏆
Here’s your challenge:
🤔 Need a hint? Add the digits of each number (like 2 + 0 + 5 + 3 for the bottom one). The record-holder’s number has the smallest total.
Eric Dickerson wasn’t just fast… he was unstoppable.
He was drafted by the Rams in 1983. Right away, he set rookie rushing records. In his second year, he ran for the NFL record: 2,105 yards. Over 11 years, he piled up over 13,000 yards and earned his spot in the Hall of Fame.
😂 Silliness: Rushing Redefined 🏎️
Rushing can mean running the football. Or just going really, really fast.
So what happens when Dude Perfect puts sports and speed together?
🎥 Ready to watch High Speed Sports Battle?
Whew! Just watching that is exhausting.
Oh, and before we go…
#3 Ohio State beating #1 Texas wasn’t the only upset yesterday.
In the Battle of the Tigers, #9 LSU clawed past #4 Clemson.
The 17–10 win followed our rushing rule. LSU rushed for 108 yards while holding Clemson to just 31.
And over in Florida? Total shocker. Unranked Florida State ran all over #8 Alabama 31–17.
They had 230 rushing yards compared to Bama’s 87.
And with that, we’ve rushed through another Sunday.
See you tomorrow, Smallballers!
