In 2024, the Chiefs tried to do something no NFL team has ever done: win three Super Bowls in a row.
They came close, going 15–2 in the regular season and beating Buffalo for a third consecutive conference title.
But Philadelphia’s 40–22 Super Bowl win ended Kansas City’s streak.
Now, with Patrick Mahomes still in his prime and Andy Reid still on the sideline, the mission for 2025 is crystal clear: get the Lombardi Trophy back.
Last year: 15–2
Lost to the Eagles in the Super Bowl
Division: AFC West

⚾ Want a little baseball snack before you dive in? Last night Shohei Ohtani smacked a line drive up the middle… and the Angels got three outs.
It’s called a triple play. They’re very rare… usually only about five each MLB season.
Okay, now we’re ready to shift from baseball to football stars!
⭐ Stars to Know
The Chiefs have a quarterback with magic in his arm, a tight end with pop-star power, and a defense that hits like thunder.
Patrick Mahomes – Quarterback
Mahomes is the ultimate problem-solver. Need a first down? He’ll find a way. Need a touchdown? He’ll make magic happen… sometimes while running sideways, jumping, or throwing with his left hand.
He’s already got three Super Bowl rings, but after losing the last one, he’s hungrier than ever.
Playing the Chiefs? Don’t let Mahomes touch the ball at the end. Or he’ll find a way to beat you.
🎥 Watch Mahomes’ greatest plays (so far).
Travis Kelce – Tight End
Kelce is Mahomes’ go-to guy when the game is super close. He’s big enough to push past defenders, quick enough to leave them behind, and clever enough to always be in the right spot.
Whether it’s a short pass he turns into a long gain or a clutch catch in the end zone, Kelce knows how to make the big plays that break opponents’ hearts.
Basically, defenses try to cover him, but he just shakes it off. Shakes it off. 🎶
(He’s a great player. He’s also super famous because he dates pop superstar Taylor Swift.)
Chris Jones – Defensive Tackle
Jones is a giant wall in the middle of the defense… except this wall can move. Fast.
Quarterbacks hate him because he blasts through blockers and gets in their face before they can throw. Running backs? They don’t like him much either.
If the Chiefs’ offense is the fireworks, Jones is the thunder that comes right after.
👀 Stories to Watch
Can the Chiefs bounce back, win another ring, and keep the Swifties singing all season? Here’s what to keep an eye on.
A World Tour and a Super Bowl Rematch
The Chiefs aren’t easing into 2025. Their first game is in Brazil (cool!) against the Chargers. Just one week later, they’re back home at Arrowhead facing the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch.
Two huge games, right away. If Kansas City wants to show the NFL they’re still the top dog, this is their chance.
Protecting Patrick
In that Super Bowl loss, Mahomes got sacked six times. That’s… a lot.
The Chiefs made changes, bringing in new linemen to keep their superstar quarterback safe.
Mahomes and coach Andy Reid have been working all offseason to make the offense sharper, faster, and more dangerous than ever. If they can block better, the rest of the league is in trouble.
Spags and the New-Look Defense
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo (they call him Spags) loves to blitz, trick quarterbacks, and make them nervous.
This year, he’s got some new pieces to work with. If they catch on fast, Spags might have another championship-level defense ready to roll.
🎁 Did You Know?
Arrowhead Stadium is a real-life superpower for the Chiefs: the bowl-shaped design helps the roar stay inside, so the sound carries and stacks on itself.
In 2014, Chiefs fans got so loud that Guinness measured 142.2 decibels… a world record for a stadium roar (that’s louder than a jet taking off!).
Before kickoff, a special guest climbs to the Drum Deck and bangs a giant drum to wake up the crowd. And once the game starts, visiting teams can barely hear their own play calls.
🎥 This is what it looks… and sounds… like.
The Chiefs have the stars, the swagger, and the stadium that can shake your bones.
But will that be enough to take the trophy back from Philly?
Tomorrow, we finish our top 10 with the defending champs: the Eagles.
That’s all… Oh, no! Wait! Don’t go! Want to play a quick game?
🎤 Which of these is NOT a real Taylor Swift lyric with a sports connection?
She’s cheer captain / and I’m on the bleachers
These blokes warm the benches / We’ve been on a winning streak
‘Cause you know I love the players / And you love the game
You play stupid games / You win stupid prizes
