Memorial Day Magic ✨
From basketball courts to costumed chaos… this Memorial Day was a fast-moving, heart-thumping reminder of why we watch, run, and cheer. Let’s dive in! 👇
1️⃣ OKC… One Step Closer? 👣
This wasn’t a blowout or a beatdown. It was a battle. And when it mattered most, one team just made more plays.
🎥 Watch the last 2:30 to figure out which team…
Thunder 128, Wolves 126.
The Thunder leaned on SGA, who led the way with 40 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. Just one rebound shy of a triple-double, but every bit the performance of a league MVP.
For the Wolves, it was the bench that brought the heat. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Donte DiVincenzo combined for 44 points, sparking life in a game that nearly slipped away early. But Ant and Julius Randle never found their rhythm, finishing with just 21 points combined.
Now the Thunder lead the series 3–1, with a chance to punch their ticket to the NBA Finals in front of their home crowd in Game 5.
2️⃣ Can the Knicks Climb the Comeback Ladder? 🪜
Remember the Wolves? Down 0–2 to the Thunder, their chances of winning the series were just 7%. Then they took Game 3… and those odds jumped to 20%.
Now the Knicks are in the same spot.
After two rough losses in Indiana, New York clawed out a 106–100 win at home to make it 2–1. One of the biggest changes? A new starting lineup.
Josh Hart, who had started 140 straight games, volunteered to come off the bench so the team could start Mitchell Robinson instead. His reason? Robinson is an excellent defender… and the Knicks had given up 138 points in Game 1 and 114 in Game 2. Here’s what Hart said:
“I don’t care if I start. I don’t care if I play 20 minutes. If we win, we win…
It doesn’t matter how many points you score, it doesn’t matter how many minutes you play. It doesn’t matter if you start. It depends on if you win, and at the end of the day that’s the most important thing for me.”
Selfless. And it worked. Robinson helped hold the Pacers to just 100 points.
Can the Knicks take the next step and even the series tonight?
🎯 Experts say: 56% chance Pacers win.
3️⃣ A Record Breaker and a Photo Finish 🏃♀️
Let’s jog our memory with what we discussed yesterday:
On the women’s side, defending champion Grace Loibach Nawowuna of Kenya returns after dominating last year's race in 32:45.
On the men’s side, Conner Mantz is aiming for his third consecutive BOLDERBoulder victory. He'll be challenged every step of the way by Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena, who recently edged out Mantz in a thrilling photo finish at the Houston Half Marathon.
🎉 And what happened? Both races delivered… big time.
Nawowuna didn't just defend her title. She crushed it. Her winning time of 31:51 set a new BOLDERBoulder record, breaking a mark that had stood for 30 years. She ran 6.2 miles at over 5,000 feet of elevation… at just over 5 minutes per mile! And won by 48 seconds. That’s not just fast. That’s full-on superhero mode.
And in the men’s race, Mantz made sure history repeated itself… again. With a late surge, he pulled away from Gobena to win his third straight BOLDERBoulder pro crown. That puts him in rare company among American road racers and proves that even after heartbreak in Houston, he came back faster.
🎥 Still catching your breath? Watch how Mantz timed his final sprint just right:
Whether it was record-setting speed or a gutsy chasedown, Boulder was buzzing.
And if you think racing has to mean serious faces and stopwatch times… just wait ‘til you see the trampolines and slip ‘n slides. 🎥⬇️
Here’s the thing… we love stories like this. Running might not be on TV every night, but it’s full of heart, hustle, and surprises. We want to cover more sports you don’t always hear about! So if there’s anything you’re curious about, leave us a comment. 🏃♂️⛳🤸♀️
Whether you’re chasing a Finals ticket or a finish line… it’s the joy that makes it special.
Thanks for running with us. We’ll be back tomorrow!
