Since basketball season started a few weeks ago, we’ve been talking NBA, NFL, college football, and MLB.

But with the World Series over, this might be our last four-sport story for a while.

So, it’s only fair that we start with the final update from…

MLB ⚾️

You must know by now that the Dodgers won the World Series.

And that Game 7 was an epic, extra-innings extravaganza.

But did you know that some baseball experts are calling it the greatest World Series ever?

Here’s why ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian believes it’s true:

Not because all the games were great -- some weren’t. All were flawed, but all were marvelously fun, interesting and entertaining.

It was the greatest World Series because of its compelling storylines, some of which were impossible to believe:

• An 18-inning game,

• A historic pitching performance by a 22-year-old,

• The first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history,

• The first World Series game to begin with back-to-back home runs,

• The first game-ending, 7-4 double play in World Series history,

• A bizarre, three-pitch opera from a pitcher who hadn’t worked in relief in seven years,

• The final major league game for the greatest pitcher of this era,

• And a Game 7 for the ages, for all ages, a masterpiece featuring an unforgettable, ironman pitching performance that we might never see again."

Okay, Tim, when you say it like that…

NBA 🏀

Week 2 is done! And we’ll have more on the NBA Cup in our Friday post. (That’s the regular season tournament that just kicked off!)

So, let’s just focus on the best game from the last few days.

Monday night. Bucks vs. Pacers.

Giannis was back after missing Milwaukee’s win against the Warriors last week with an injury.

And Bucks center Myles Turner was back in Indianapolis for the first time since he left the Pacers to sign with the Bucks in the offseason.

NFL Week 9 👔🏈

Best game: We had a bunch of good games to choose from after last week’s blowout alert!

The Panthers upset the Packers, 16–13, on a game-winning field goal.

And while Carolina kicker Ryan Fitzgerald got the glory, it was running back Rico Dowdle who made it possible with 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The Broncos also made a last-second field goal against the Texans to win, 18–15. Denver’s now won six in a row.

They were losing to start the fourth quarter but scored 11-straight points. It’s becoming a trend! The Broncos are now 4–0 when trailing entering the fourth quarter.

For the Patriots, it wasn’t a made field goal that made the difference in their win over the Falcons, 24–23.

That one-point margin? It came from Atlanta kicker Parker Romo’s missed extra point with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

🎥 But, hey, it was still an incredible touchdown catch by wide receiver Drake London to almost tie the game.

And while we’re talking about near misses… the Bills beat the Chiefs, 28–21.

A heartbreaking loss to the Bears! Let’s recap.

The Bears led by 14 with less than two minutes left in the game.

The Bengals scored a touchdown and two-point conversion with 1:43 left to cut the lead to six.

Then, the Bengals scored again with 54 seconds left to take the lead…

Until the Bears scored a 58 yard touchdown with 17 seconds left to win!

Biggest news: Last week, the Colts and Packers led the NFL with only one loss each.

We saw the Packers lose to the Panthers. And the Colts lost to the Steelers.

So now the standings look like this:

Wildest play: We talked about how Colts QB Daniel Jones and Bucs QB Baker Mayfield are getting second chances.

Both struggled early in their careers, joined new teams, and are now having great years.

Another player in that situation?

Seahawks QB Sam Darnold.

He was drafted by the New York Jets in 2018 and struggled for four seasons. Then, he bounced around as a backup for the Panthers and 49ers.

Last year, he signed with the Vikings to back up rookie QB JJ McCarthy. But when McCarthy got hurt, Darnold got to start. And he crushed it!

Still, the Vikings decided to go with JJ this year. So, Darnold left for the Seahawks.

Now, they’re 6–2, and he’s playing like a top-five QB.

What does that look like? How about 21-for-24 with 330 yards and 4 touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the Commanders.

College Football Week 10 🎓🏈

Best game: Why was six afraid of seven?

Because #8, #9, and #10 all lost.

Okay, not really.

But it’s technically true!

NC State beat #8 Georgia Tech, 48–36.

#20 Texas beat #9 Vanderbilt, 34–31.

And SMU beat #10 Miami 26–20.

We could’ve picked any of those… but we’re going with 3–4 Clemson vs. 4–3 Duke. It’s a South Carolina (Clemson) vs. North Carolina (Duke) rivalry.

And while it’s been a disappointing season for Clemson (they started at #4 but keep losing and aren’t going to make the College Football Playoff)… they haven’t lost to Duke at home in 45 years.

🎥 Think they made it 46?

Nope. Clemson couldn’t get to 46 years because Duke beat them to 46 points.

And now it’s been zero years since Duke last beat Clemson in South Carolina!
